I receive this error in my file mondoarchive.log and archive not created :

scratchdir not found (No such file or directory) [Main] newt-specific.c->fatal_error#308: Fatal error received - 'scratchdir not found'

I could help if I had the full log. The important msg is:

scratchdir not found (No such file or directory)

You may want to use -S (cf man page)
