Description
Please excuse me if I am missing something. (I am a trac novice, too.) I did try to find related tickets. I have been happily using mondo for many years, but I have a new machine. I just tried to install Mondo from the Debian unstable distribution. I could not find it! What I did find is a Debian bug that seems to say it has been removed:
Debian Bug report logs - #629585
RM: mondo -- RoQA; totally unmaintained
Am I missing something?
Are you aware of this?
Do the FAQ instructions (Q11/ Does mondo work with Debian/Ubuntu? distributions?) need to be changed?
Do you have alternate instructions for installing mondo?
Here is the last message in the bug report:
From: Debian FTP Masters <ftpmaster@…> To: 629585-close@… Cc: mondo@…, mondo@… Subject: Bug#629585: Removed package(s) from unstable Date: Wed, 08 Jun 2011 09:32:44 +0000
We believe that the bug you reported is now fixed; the following package(s) have been removed from unstable:
mondo | 1:2.2.7-2.1 | source, amd64, i386
mondo-doc | 1:2.2.7-2.1 | all
------------------- Reason -------------------
RoQA; totally unmaintained
There is no active Debian maintainer anymore since a couple of years now. Andree who was doing it doesn't have time anymore. So from a Debian perspective, the tool is unmaintained and dropped.
If you're willing to maintain it, please sepak to your Debian contacts, and I'll help.
As on my side, the tool is maintained and still there ! And of course, to make it easy to Debian/Ubuntu users, I make my own upstream packages that you can get at ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/ and ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/test for the beta. An for that please follow the tips you mentioned in Q11 of the FAQ.
