#115 closed enhancement (fixed)

Allow mondo to create bootable USB keys to restore from

Description

mondoarchive should handle a new option to allow it to create a bootable USB key instead of an ISO image. Restore would then be possible directly from that USB key. Should also work for a disk.

As I said by mail, I can think of 2 alternatives :

  • Either the backup/restore is done with a unique USB mass storage device in place,
  • Or we get the S/N of the key, making the restore impossible if the key's contents is duplicated.

Both have their respective drawback, any cleverer behaviour will need a tougher approach IMHO.

Status: mindi is already supporting USB storages in the stable branch. Mondo has preliminary support. Tests have not yet been done due to other issues on that version.
