It seems this is linked to new kernels and fdisk probing. Found another SLES user reporting the same: https://community.hpe.com/t5/System-Administration/LVM-Commands-Hang-on-SLES-12-SP-1-HAE-Cluster/td-p/6974015 As well some OpenSUSE users: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=916773
Cf: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/282845/blk-update-request-i-o-error-dev-fd0-sector-0 for one way to disable floppy if you don't need it from Linux.
Also, do you have a floppy disk declared in the BIOS of the machine ? If yes, and you don't have one, then disable it so it doesn't appear in Linux. Cf: https://bugs.launchpad.net/percona-server/+bug/1584646
Anyway, it seems unrelated to mondoarchive per se, but linked to kernel changes.
