mondoarchive hangs during backup to DVD size ISO

Reported by: Vaughan Owned by: Bruno Cornec

Component: mondo Version: 2.2.9.2

Description

I have run mondoarchive (mondo-2.2.9.2-1.rhel5) several times on two separate machines with the following command line:

mondoarchive -OizNGg -d /backup -s 4480m -p hostname-date +%d-%b-%Y -E "/backup /var/lib/backuppc /var/named/chroot/proc" -S/backup -T/backup on uname -a:

Linux server1 2.6.18-164.10.1.el5.centos.plus #1 SMP Fri Jan 8 16:54:35 EST 2010 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Everything goes well for awhile (30mins or so) but in the 'Archiving regular files' section it simply hangs. Top indicates that mondoarchive is not doing anything and it just sits there for hour after hour. There is no error message in the mondoarchive.log file. When I ran it for CD size ISOs, it happily created four CD ISOs, but seemingly will not create a DVD size ISO.

I have included the log file.

I don't see any reason for mondoarchive to work differently on CD vs DVD at that point of the hang :-(

As you're using LM? I'd recommend that you switch to the beta of 2.2.9.3 (ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/test/rhel/5) for your tests due to a nasty bug on LVM with 2.2.9.2.

Do the 2 machines behave identically ? Could you retry with the beta and adding -K99 to your options please ? TIA.

I ran 2.2.9.3 beta as suggested on both of the machines and it hung each time. First time I ran it on the first machine, I forgot to add the -K99 and it reached 70% (where it seems to fail the first time it is run). The second time I ran it with -K99 switch and failed at 25%. I have included the mondoarchive log file of that run.

Both machines run Centos 5.4 but on completely different hardware. One runs the Centos.plus kernel and the other the standard Centos kernel. I am using the default LVM with the ext3 filesystem (I believe).

Actually I can't include the log file as even compressed down to 95% of its original size it is 2.8MB, which is more than the 2MB limit for attachments. I have e-mailed it to trac@…

E-mail was not delivered so I have split the file into two parts and uploaded them here.

This problem should be fixed in the latest beta version available at ftp://ftp.mondorescue.org/test Please test and report back. TIA.
