Last change on this file since 323 was 323, checked in by bcornec, 18 years ago

Initial import of the documentation in SGML format.
Since the original SGML file and LyX files have not been published,
thus not preserved, I'll restart from scratch by importing the HTML
doc converted into SGML/DocBook.
Then real work begins ;-)

57<para>Re: punctuation and spelling</para>
58<para>I was born and raised in England. I spent three years in the
59USA, where I picked up some of the associated spelling, etc. Much
60of Mondo's development took place in the US; so, rather than
61confuse matters, I am keeping all source code and documentation in
62US English. All criticisms should be made with that in mind.</para>
63<para>When I was at school, the apostrophe would be present when
64pluralizing an acronym - e.g. CD's, ISO's - but nowadays that is
65considered old hat and even incorrect by some, which came as a
66shock to me when I found out. It surprises me how quickly grammar,
67spelling and punctuation have evolved even during my brief
68liefetime. I am afraid I am still in the habit of writing CD's
69instead of CDs. If you would like to draw my attention to
70technical, grammatical or typographical errors, please feel free
71but remember to couch your e-mail in language which shows you are
72doing this out of a spirit of compassion for the poor sods who have
73to read the documentation, not out of a spirit of pedantry.
